The room at Mai Guest House was so cozy and inviting with a comfortable seating area to unwind after a long day. The air-conditioning was a blessing, and I had the option of both attached and shared bathrooms. The private bathroom was well-stocked with complimentary toiletries and a handy hair dryer. Plus, the 24-hour front desk was super convenient for all our needs. Some rooms even had a flat-screen cable TV, which was a nice touch. I felt right at home in my room at Mai Guest House.
Personally, I didn't fancy the shared bathroom option, but I understand that some guests might not mind it and find it suitable for their needs.

The family running the guest house was amazing. The location was perfect!!!
The mattress on the bed was terrible. It was so hard, I had trouble sleeping and woke up sore.

The owner was helpful and fairly easy to communicate with. The room was new and turned over very clean. The price ($16 a night) was very attractive, outweighing the negatives.
Noise from the hallway carries into the rooms at near full volume. The mattresses are very hard (but I understand this is how all hotels are in Vietnam except for the five star ones). The rooms are very small (similar to Paris) and it is hard to walk around them with luggage on the floor. No maid service on a daily basis.

Ideal location down a side street off the busy backpaper road. Think Khao San Rd if you have ever been to Bangkok...you definitely don't want to stay on it but it's good to be near it. Staff are very friendly but limited English. We got by with sign language and a lot of smiling.

This place is mind-blowing! The location is jaw-droppingly central yet unbelievably quiet. The staff are super friendly and helpful, calling us taxis and allowing us to shower after check-out. The four-bed room was spacious with a balcony and big window, way better than the double room. They offer free water, great tours, and the owner is so kind and helpful. The guesthouse is incredibly safe and secure. Our room was massive, clean, and had a powerful AC, great shower, and big beds. The location is fantastic, surrounded by lively streets with lots of eateries and shops. Don't be put off by the alley, it's filled with guesthouses, restaurants, and shops, and feels completely safe, even at night. this place exceeded all expectations and I would definitely stay again.

Very helpfull and friendly owner and his family. The room wasn't big but has everything needed and clean bathroom. The laundary service very good.
A bit noisy, there are I think two small kids in the family, adorable but not at 6 A.m - they wake up everyone. Mail guesthause in not on the main street, I was really hard to find it, you have to turn from the mail street in to a very narrow path, with plenty of other guesthouses. Be carefull on this path, it has only meter and and a half and it will be you, an outdoor restaurant, two motorbikes together in the same moment. The water in the bathroom not very warm.

Very clean place, very friendly staff, air conditioner in room - fine! Another advantage - that guesthouse located in the center of Ho Chi Minh city, so everything is very close. The owner, Yen, will give you map of central district of city with famous places marks.

I had a fantastic stay at this guesthouse! The floor and bathroom were spotlessly clean, and the towels smelled freshly washed. The manager was really nice and even allowed me to check in 1 hour early. I was also pleased to find out that they accepted credit card payments. The location of the guesthouse was perfect. It was just a short walk down a quiet alley to the main road where I could catch public buses or hop on a bus to Cambodia. There was also a great Indian restaurant in the same alley, which was super convenient. I felt safe at all times because the main gate was always closed and required a key card to enter. Although my room had a small window facing another wall, it was better than having no window at all. The air conditioning worked really well too, which was a relief in the hot weather.
Absolutely nothing to say about dislikes.

We lived in the family room, there were 2 large beds, we and our 2 girls, 8 & 5 years old have a lot of place. There is enough place even for 3 children. We have a huge window and a tiny balcon. Everything was sparkling clean. There was a lot of hot water. The hotel is located in the center of backpakers district on a quiet street. There is no breakfast but from early morning you can have vietnamise breakfast right on the street. There is children playground in the long park on the way to the market.
There was no soap in the room

Convenient location, friendly staff, free Wi-Fi, and a variety of dining options nearby. Cons: Oh, how I love arriving to find out that my room is not available and I have to scramble to find accommodation late at night. So much fun!
